    graphics turbo disabled?

    Hi!

Everytime I boot up Ubuntu I get a message flashing by split second. This is from my dmesg.log.

[ 15.799491] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled

Everything seems to work nice, but I'm curious what to do about this message. It's kinda annoying and I guess it's slowing down my boot up time too.

    Thank you!

    Re: graphics turbo disabled?

Do you even have a Intel graphics device?
    Code:
    lspci | grep VGA
If it doesn't return anything made by Intel, you can safely ignore the error.

If you do, are you using the correct driver? Try looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log
It should either use the intel or vesa. If it uses the vesa driver almost everything should still work, but stuff like 3D accelleration are missing.
What? I'm not allowed to say fsck? Then how is i supposed to help people fix their filesystems?

    Angry Re: graphics turbo disabled?

Hi there, I just made a post about this similar error, only I was using the 3d accelration effects and they were working fine until a reboot. Thats when I noticed the error. I am using a Toshiba Satelite L655. and I do have an Intel chipset family graphics. I am a newbie to ubuntu though so I dont know how to get this driver issue fixed I clicked additional hardware but it didnt say anything just that I didnt have any proprietary hardware or drivers?

If it doesn't return anything made by Intel, you can safely ignore the error.

If you do, are you using the correct driver? Try looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log
It should either use the intel or vesa. If it uses the vesa driver almost everything should still work, but stuff like 3D accelleration are missing.
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) Thats the output of what you said do.

I tried to get the update like Ive seen on a lot of posts and I found this site. and it says the same thing you did, but I cant do it because after I restarted It wouldnt lad the desktop. It loads all the way up to the soud (ubuntu drums?) and it just stays black.. Im so lost.. am I going to have to reinstall? and lose all my stuff?? :'(

    Re: graphics turbo disabled?

Heres that site telling you how to manually enable the intel graphics. I wouldnt really know how to do this even if my comp would load my desktop.. but maybe it will help one of you and then you can help me get mine working
