Webcam driver update for Ubuntu-8.10

Will the driver only work for 8.10 OR for all Linux distros?

It should work on a standard Linux kernel and it should be able to work on any Linux distribution. But it depends on the distribution developers themselves if they keep the driver up to date or not.

Some times its best to use the Package management tools of the distribution to install software, but it depends.

You mean to run, or install the webcam?

Normally to install the driver, you only need to use the commands make and make install. There is a Readme file on how to install the driver in the parent driver directory.

To use the webcam, you only need to run a webcam based application.

I have Kopete so in Yahoo messenger it does not run, displays plugin missing?

So Both Run & Install.

Still something going wrong and I dont get it.
