problem in abiword
i've installed ubuntu 7.4 and xubuntu 6.06 on my two computers around three months ago. it works fine. but there is a big problem in abiword. whenever i was typing in abiword, some words are somehow ''missing''. for example, when i type '' hello world'', it would appear '' hllo word'' . it happens in both computer. really don't understand. but when i use openoffice or kword it doesn't have this problem. really strange. i am sure my keyboard doesn't have any problem.

Re: problem in abiword
I have a similar problem. When typing Abiword will randomly miss out a letter and type in a random manner, difficult to explain exactly but it is strange behaviour. Re-installing didn't make any difference. Has anyone else encountered this, and more importantly found a solution.

Re: problem in abiword
I have had the same problem. It prints fine. It is a bug that for some reason doesn't allow the whole word to be shown.

Re: problem in abiword
Sef - yes I have noticed that the word doesn't display all the letters that I type but when I save and then open the document all the letters are there as they should be.
However missing letters kind of makes the programme unusable. Is this a reported bug and is there any solution? Is it possible to use a different version of abiword, maybe an older one that doesn't have this bug. |

Re: problem in abiword
this problem makes my abiword unusable, so i have to use either openoffice or mousepad to type document. but it is a bit slow if i use oo (PIII 933, 6.06) and lacks features if i use mousepad. i am thinking if i should upgrade both computers to 7.10. but it seems odd to do the upgrade for such a small problem (it consumes a lot of time for a absolute beginner like me!). moreover, no one can tell if the same problem would happen in 7.10

Re: problem in abiword
Woah, that sounds like a major bug to me. I'm Xubuntu 7.10 and thankfully haven't noticed it yet.
