    Can't mount dvdrom drive

Dvd rom drive used to mount and now does not. I have an Acer Aspire 5100. I can still load bootable discs but once in Ubuntu (8.10) I can not mount the drive. So I know drive works.

    Re: Can't mount dvdrom drive

At the risk of stating the obvious,
    1) have you set your BIOS to detect the CD drive?
    2) Have you set your drive to 'master' if you are using only one?
Ubuntu should then detect your drive

yes all that was done on my end with no joy..

My issue turned out to be the drive (LG HSA-H55N/L) failing in the dvd reading dept. Once I replaced it with a Samsung SH-S222A I have no issue with blank dvd media.. Now if I can get a proper veiwer to watch dvd movies I will be happy..
