When my laptop resumes, it stops with a blank screen and a mouse cursor. When I move the mouse a window appears asking for my password.

The two files I installed are:

xserver-xorg-video-radeon_6.12.1-0ubuntu2_i386
xserver-xorg-video-ati_6.12.1-0ubuntu2_i386

Now I just need to lock these files so apt doesn't update them. It appears this is a video module/driver problem in karmic and not the kernel.

Hope this information helps.
This method works fine on my Vostro 1000 with Ubuntu Karmic 64 Bit.
Thank you!

Re: 9.10 suspend/hibernate issue

My problem is a little diferent, after suspend/resume, i cant open any program, if i try to open Terminal, for exemple, i get this message:

Unable to load GDesktopAppInfo for /home/jango/.local/share/applications/gnome-terminal.desktop

How can i fix that???

Thanks

Sumashod,
Where did you pull those files from?

EDIT - I want to confirm that my fix didn't end up working for very long, or consistently. The fix reported here by Sumashod, has worked now for 3 days or so. I installed the packages from the command line, then locked them in Synaptic so that they cannot be upgraded. Problem Solved!

Re: 9.10 suspend/hibernate issue

Sumashod,

Please explain more specifics of where you got the files and how you installed them. I found one deb file for the radeon, but when I double-clicked it, I was shown what it was and told that a newer version was already installed. I wasn't allowed to install this one.
