i created a new partition and installed on that. i had moved the recovery partition on the disk but this shouldn't of affected the OS though.

just done the chkdsk. took over an hour :(

didn't fix the problem though. came up with a whole lot of errors or something. iv never seem it behave that way and iv done allot of chkdsks before....
